Privacy
Your words stay yours.
CommonCopy does its job locally. No account, no phrase uploads, and no background clipboard history.
01 / Local storage
Your phrases, categories, settings, and usage counts are stored as readable JSON on your computer. On Windows, that’s under your user profile in AppData. On Mac, it’s in Application Support. CommonCopy does not upload this file.
02 / Copy and paste
When you choose a phrase, CommonCopy places its text on the system clipboard and sends the paste shortcut. When you choose “Save highlighted text,” it sends the copy shortcut once and reads the selection into an editor. Previous plain text can be restored when the clipboard hasn’t changed in the meantime.
03 / Input access
Windows detects the configured Ctrl + right-click gesture and registered keyboard shortcut. Mac uses a mouse-only event tap and a registered shortcut. Accessibility permission is required on Mac for activation, capture, and paste. CommonCopy does not record typed text or continuously capture application content.
04 / This website
We do not add analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising network scripts to this website. Its interactive example uses temporary browser memory and does not upload text. The hosting provider processes standard website requests and may use cookies for security and service operation.
05 / Sponsors
CommonCopy is preparing a direct sponsorship program, with clearly labelled names, logos, and website links. Sponsor recognition appears on the website only. Sponsors do not receive your phrase library, clipboard contents, or desktop usage data. Sponsor links take you to external sites with their own privacy policies. The sponsor registration form collects your business or display name, contact name and email, short description, optional website and optional logo. We use these details to review and manage your sponsorship and contact you about it. Contact names and email addresses are kept private; agreed business information and logos are published only after review. Registrations and logos are stored with our hosting provider. We also store a temporary hashed network identifier to limit abusive submissions; it is not published. Management sign-in uses a one-time email link that expires after 15 minutes, followed by a secure session cookie lasting up to one hour. Only hashes of the access tokens are stored. Logo and profile changes are saved for review before publication. No card details are collected by this website. Payments remain closed while prices and checkout are prepared. When activated, Stripe will process payments and deliver payment receipts under its own privacy policy. To request a correction or deletion, use the sponsor contact channel when available.
06 / Sensitive information
CommonCopy is not encrypted secret storage. Keep passwords, authentication codes, recovery keys, and access tokens in a dedicated password manager. Export your library for a lasting backup; the automatic previous-version backup rotates.
